Mirko Beetschen grew up in the middle of the woods and lakes of the idyllic Bernese Oberland in Switzerland. He studied English and American Literature as well as Journalism at the University of Berne, living in the US and in London for some time.

His passion is, has been and will be the written word. Moving to Zurich he started working for «Ideales Heim» – the oldest Swiss interior and architecture magazine. After six years, during which he acquired a profound knowledge of modern architecture and interior design, Mirko decided to become a freelance writer. Since 2007 he is partner of the Bergdorf company.

Mirko Beetschen lives and works in Zurich where he is currently writing his first novel.

Stéphane Houlmann grew up in the historic city of Berne. Having worked in Gstaad, London and Paris, he attended the Hotel Managment School in Lucerne. For six years he and his business partner Isabelle Hofstetter ran the four star hotel Belle Epoque in Berne with great success. A sabbatical year brought him to India, Morocco and the Caribbean, before he settled in Zurich.

On his travels he follows the latest in architecture, design and gastronomy. In his leisure time he loves to cook, read and listen to classical music. Lately he has taken to photography as well. For Bergdorf he brews up new concepts and strategies, produces interior and travel features and writes journalistic texts.

He founded the company in 1997. Stéphane Houlmann lives and works in Zurich.
